Brigitta's first hike

We went for our first hike last weekend.  I can't believe that I miss hiking. :)  When I first came here, I was a proper city girl as I was raised in KL.  Not to say Kev wasn't a proper city guy..he spent most of his adult life in one of the busiest city in the world, Seoul. But, he liked hiking and shared his love with me, and in time I began to like it too.  After a few months in the house, I am just itching to go especially with such beautiful weather.

So, anyway, this time I wanted to go to Coyote Hills.  It's like a swamp/pond area but on the other side of the hill, it's part of the inside Bay.  So, we can opt to walk on top of the swamp or on the hill. The hill is a much harder hike.

We didn't have a snow or thick jacket for Brigitta but I didn't think we needed it coz it was so hot on Saturday. But, the wind was very strong and by the time we walked on the plankway in the swamp side she was crying.  Kev wore her on the Baby Bjorn so she's pretty exposed to the wind. We couldn't use the stroller for that coz that path is closed for bikes and I wasn't sure if that include strollers too.  Plus, since it's flat land, even using a stroller, the wind is going to be really strong.

So, with that option out, we bundled her up in the stroller and set for the hills. Our stroller is an Inglesina Zippy so we can put the car seat on it which is good coz that means she faces us while we're pushing it.  It's a four wheeler (vs a jogging stroller) but it's still wonderful in maneuvering and it has an all wheel suspension (like a car) so it's a pretty smooth ride for her even when the road's bumpy. Most of it is "tanah merah" unpaved trail too.

I love that strong, brisk wind but even I had to use a hat. Kev was bare headed, I think he handles the  cold better than I.  It's a nice juxtaposition coz the sun was really shiny. We had so much exercise pushing that stroller up and down the trail.  There was one part where it's really steep and Kev had to pull the stroller while keeping his balance on the unpaved trail coz there's some loose rocks. However I forgot how long the trail was, there was hardly anyone there. By the end of it, my thighs were itchy (hope it means my body was using the fat that's there) and I felt great. Not a bad workout for a $5 fee per car.

The only thing I didn't like was that the cattails have died so they looked all broken up. I did see some green sprouts coming up.  I remembered it look really nice the last time we were there which was probably in the Summer. So, the cattails must be tall probably at the end of Spring and beginning of Summer. A good reason to go again. :)

Am trying to put a video in here, just a short little one showing Kevin pushing the stroller. Gives you an idea how the trail was like.  Hopefully it works. I took the video using my point and shoot camera.

Kev has other photos from his camera so I might put it up later.
