8 weeks old
Brigitta Nurilham turned 8 weeks (about 2 months) old last Friday. We can see changes in her almost daily. Our friend, Gelveen was here helping me and Brigitta out for a week and she said that she sees development every day. :)
First a shout out to Gelveen, thanks so much for your time, cooking all that dal and also the potato dishes. It's really good to know that we have food for at least a week (or more!) so your help has been invaluable and more appreciated than you know. Now, that Gelveen has left, the house feels a bit more empty. It's always anticlimatic when we have a guest at home.
For Brigitta's development so far, her eyes have grown bigger, eye lashes longer and her forehead grew quite a bit. She kinda knows how to smile consciously and once tried to turn on her side. She's much stronger with her neck now, for tummy time, she can raise her head for about 5 seconds while looking around. She's starting to coo back when we talk to her, and she even smiled at the cats! I think she also realized that she can take her day naps being in a sling instead of the crib, and she prefers to be in the sling, thank you very much. We also took off her mittens so that she can start figuring out what her hands are for. I have cut her nails a couple of times, it's unnerving but doing them while she sleeps helps.
She also has outgrown all her newborn clothes (a couple she didn't have the chance to wear) but I notice brands differ on the sizes a bit. Now, she's on the 3-6 months clothes. She's also a plump baby and her chunky thighs and arms are the cutest. :)
So, when I heard of a sale event that only happens twice a year for baby stuff, I definitely wanted to go. Most of the items are used but it doesn't matter to me, as long as it looks new and clean. The sale event was at the County Fairgrounds in a big building. We got a couple of children's books and then checked out the clothes. The prices are from 99 cents to $10. We even got a few new items there. But, my favorite is a Ralph Lauren dress for about $5 (probably from $35) and Kev's favorite is a pair of jeans that has butterflies on them. I asked him if he wants to buy a Halloween costume for her but he already has plans on making one. Can't wait to see how it looks like.
At the moment, we have decided to go back to Malaysia in May coz the tickets are so much cheaper. Plus, we want to catch a cocoa conference there at the same time. So far, we haven't brought her anywhere longer than two hours so I am a bit stressed out on what to do during travel time. But a lot of my friends have done it and they assured me that even though it's tough, it can be done. I must say that I wish I can bring her to the conference though instead of leaving her with someone else.
Cheers
Haniza
